Firmware Engineer – RISC-V & Embedded Systems for Satellite Platforms

We are looking for a Firmware Engineer to join our client's hybrid team in Oslo, working on embedded systems built around RISC-V architectures for space-grade satellite platforms. You will design reliable low-level software and collaborate with aerospace hardware and systems experts on projects that operate beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and implement firmware for RISC-V-based embedded platforms used in satellites and space payloads.
• Develop robust low-level drivers and system components for real-time communication, power management, and control systems.
• Ensure compliance with space industry safety and reliability standards (ECSS, DO-254, etc.).
• Contribute to board bring-up, system testing, and on-orbit firmware validation.
• Work closely with hardware and systems engineers to deliver reliable space-ready solutions.

You Bring:

• 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development (bare-metal or RTOS).
• Solid understanding of RISC-V microcontrollers or SoCs.
• Strong coding skills in Embedded C/C++, with attention to low-level resource optimization.
• Experience with fault-tolerant or high-reliability systems (Aerospace, Automotive, Medical).
• Familiarity with SPI, I2C, UART, ADCs, and power control systems.

Nice to have:

• Background in space systems, NewSpace technologies, or CubeSat development.
• Exposure to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing or FPGA prototyping.
• Experience with software qualification or space-grade component libraries.
