Cloud Architect

Job Objective

The Microsoft Cloud Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing both cloud and on-premises infrastructure to ensure seamless operations, security, and scalability. This role focuses on delivering innovative solutions using Microsoft Azure while optimizing existing on-premises environments. The Cloud Architect will also lead digital transformation initiatives by integrating systems, automating IT processes, and aligning infrastructure with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cloud Infrastructure Design & Management

• Design and implement scalable Azure-based cloud architectures.
• Deploy and manage core Azure services: Azure VMs, AKS, Azure AD, Azure DevOps, Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, and Exchange 365.
• Develop cloud migration strategies and oversee their execution.
• Manage hybrid environments using Azure Arc, Azure Stack, and Exchange Hybrid.

2. Security & Compliance

• Implement governance frameworks using Azure Policy, Management Groups, and RBAC.
• Enforce security best practices using Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Sentinel, and Zero Trust Architecture.
• Ensure compliance with data security and regulatory standards.

3. Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Design and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies using Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, and third-party tools.
• Develop and test incident response and business continuity plans.

4. Automation & Optimization

• Build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, ARM Templates, and Bicep.
• Automate routine tasks using Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and Power Automate.
• Optimize system performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.

5. Cloud Networking Management

• Configure and manage networking components: Azure Virtual Network, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, and Load Balancers.
• Ensure secure and reliable connectivity between cloud and on-premises systems.

6. DevOps & CI/CD

• Support DevOps teams by enhancing CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
• Manage containerized application deployments using Kubernetes (AKS).

7. AI & Big Data Analytics

• Implement AI and analytics solutions with Azure AI, Azure Machine Learning, and Synapse Analytics.
• Develop scalable serverless applications using Azure Functions and Azure App Services.

8. Monitoring & Cost Optimization

• Monitor Azure resource usage and control costs using cost management tools.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities by rightsizing resources and leveraging Reserved Instances.
• Enforce cost governance best practices.

9. On-Premises Infrastructure Management

• Administer core services including Windows Server, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, File & Print Services.
• Maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Manage on-premises security solutions including firewalls, ZTNA, and endpoint protection.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Preferred Certifications:
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Azure infrastructure, services, and networking.
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools: Terraform, ARM Templates, Bicep.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, identity, and data protection.
• Experience in CI/CD, DevOps pipelines, and automation.
• Familiarity with cloud-native databases: Azure SQL, Cosmos DB.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize cloud performance.
