Your New Role

As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will provide operational and administrative support across the Department’s cyber security platforms, with a strong focus on Microsoft cloud technologies. You’ll be instrumental in monitoring threats, responding to incidents, and enhancing the department’s security posture through proactive measures and strategic improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and respond to cyber incidents across cloud and endpoint environments.
• Manage malware prevention, vulnerability scanning, and cloud workload protection.
• Assess and implement new security solutions to strengthen cyber capabilities.
• Develop and maintain cyber security standards, processes, and procedures.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders on security matters.

What You Will Need to Succeed

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft cloud-based security tools (e.g., MS Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, Defender XDR, Purview).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in incident response.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Familiarity with cyber security frameworks (e.g., ACSC Essential Eight, ISO 27001, NIST, ISM).
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Security, CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or CCSP.
• MS Azure IaaS/PaaS, Microsoft Server OS, RedHat/Oracle Linux.
• Core infrastructure components (AD, GPO, ADFS, DNS, DHCP).
• PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting.
