Freelance DevOps Engineer – Site Reliability Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Freelance DevOps Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join the Continuous Delivery Linux Team, responsible for supporting and enhancing a second-generation Continuous Delivery (CD) platform. This platform, built on OpenShift and Kubernetes, serves over 55 DevOps teams managing approximately 900 applications and 2,000 Linux servers.

You will be part of a specialized sub-team focused on managing and evolving the CD 2.0 container platform, which uses a centralized GitOps-based architecture with extensive automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update custom components within the CD platform (e.g., Helm charts)
• Manage and troubleshoot OpenShift infrastructure, including:
• Investigating and resolving security findings
• Debugging and resolving cluster issues (network, performance, etc.)
• Supporting migration activities
• Proactively monitor system health using Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager
• Handle second-line support requests related to infrastructure and applications

Project Background

You will support the CD Platform team that ensures business applications and services run securely and reliably across environments. This includes ongoing development of the OpenShift-based platform and related DevOps tools used by Java-based development teams. The team also provides incident support and technical assistance via a service desk and on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of education
• 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure roles
• Strong experience with:
• Linux systems
• Pipelines & Git
• Ansible, Bash, Python
• 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes, including knowledge of Kubernetes Operators

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI/CD)
• Familiarity with GitOps and Infrastructure as Code
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and OpenShift
• Knowledge of Golang
• Working experience in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban)
• Background in large-scale or public sector organizations
