Backend Java Developer – Mobile Commerce

Our client is seeking an experienced Backend Java Developer to join their growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-impact mobile platform used by millions of end users in the education and retail space.

You’ll be part of a forward-thinking backend team focused on API development, systems integration, and infrastructure optimization. The platform is evolving rapidly, so this role is ideal for someone who enjoys clean architecture, technical problem solving, and working with modern development practices.

🔧 Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with product managers and technical leads to deliver new backend features and system integrations.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, with a strong emphasis on clean code and long-term scalability.
• Work on integrations with payment gateways, delivery partners, POS systems, and loyalty services.
• Perform performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries and data access layers.
• Support QA, user testing, and production deployments.
• Refactor legacy codebases and contribute to platform modernization efforts.
• Participate in peer code reviews and architecture planning sessions.

💼 Ideal Background:

• 4+ years of backend development experience using Java EE (Servlets, JDBC, Tomcat).
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, ideally with some exposure to migrating from legacy Java EE systems.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and ability to write efficient SQL queries.
• Confident working with third-party APIs and implementing robust HTTP-based integrations.
• Solid understanding of OOP principles, design patterns, and best practices.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.

🌟 Bonus Skills (Not Required, but Great to Have):

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Familiarity with Terraform, Docker, or containerized application deployment.
• Exposure to event-driven architecture or message bus patterns.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Experience designing or contributing to architecture decisions
