Game Designer

A narrative-driven RPG titled 7 Years of Fantasy, developed in GameMaker and inspired by titles like Earthbound, Undertale, and OneShot, is seeking a pixel artist to define its visual identity. The game features Void Girl, a central character who adapts the game’s emotional tone based on the player's decisions. The artist will be responsible for designing minimalist yet expressive pixel art for character sprites (including Void Girl and various NPCs), symbolic objects, backgrounds, and simple animations. This creative collaboration offers room for artistic interpretation and will operate on a revenue-share model, with 25% of future game earnings allocated to the pixel artist. A written agreement will be provided, and the timeline for completion is flexible, targeting the end of 2026 to early 2027.

Requirements

• Ability to create emotionally resonant, minimalist pixel art
• Experience designing character sprites, backgrounds, and animated elements
• Familiarity with the visual tone of narrative-driven indie games
• Willingness to work on a revenue-share basis (25% of earnings; no upfront fee)
• Comfort with long-term, flexible project timelines
• Open to creative collaboration and interpretation of narrative themes
• Basic understanding of animation in pixel art (e.g. idle, walk cycles, effects)
• Payment distribution via PayPal or Stripe upon revenue generation
