Business Intelligence Functional Analyst

About the Role

Join a dynamic BI team as a Freelance BI Functional Analyst and take the lead in designing end-to-end data integration and reporting solutions that empower business decisions. You’ll be the vital link between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring seamless alignment of BI solutions with strategic goals.

Tech Stack: SAS DI (ETL), SAS Visual Analytics (dashboarding), SAS EG (prototyping), Kimball dimensional modeling, Erwin Data Modeler, and more.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Requirement Analysis – Facilitate business workshops to capture, refine, and prioritize BI needs.

✔ Source System Expertise – Profile data, analyze integration points, and define mapping strategies.

✔ End-to-End Solution Design – Craft functional designs, star schema data models, and ETL specifications.

✔ Collaboration – Work closely with ETL developers to ensure accurate implementation (SAS DI).

✔ Quality Assurance – Lead system/integration testing and support Business Acceptance Testing (BAT).

✔ Documentation – Deliver detailed specs (business requirements, data models, mappings, etc.).

✔ Post-Go-Live Support – Provide BASU (Business-As-Usual) assistance for smooth adoption.

Ideal Candidate

✅ 5+ years in BI solution design, preferably as a freelancer/consultant.

✅ Deep expertise in Kimball methodology, star schema modeling, and ETL processes.

✅ Hands-on experience with SAS DI, SAS VA, SAS EG, Erwin (or similar: Informatica, Power BI, Talend).

✅ Proven ability to translate business needs into developer-ready technical specs.

✅ Energy sector knowledge? A huge plus!

✅ Fluent in French & English (Dutch is a bonus).

✅ Strong communicator who thrives in collaborative environments.
