Role Description

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Database Administrator with 12–15 years of hands-on expertise in managing large-scale database environments, specifically PostgreSQL and Greenplum, with working knowledge of Oracle. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in the telecom domain, capable of handling complex database systems, performance tuning, and integration with telecom data platforms.

This expert-level role will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of the organization’s on-premises data warehouse infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, monitor, and maintain Greenplum and Oracle database environments.
• Implement and manage backup, restore, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
• Perform performance tuning, query optimization, partitioning, and indexing for large telecom data volumes.
• Conduct user access management, role-based security, and compliance enforcement.
• Support data sharing and integration with downstream systems for analytics and reporting.
• Work closely with data engineers, developers, and architects to align DB design with project requirements.
• Analyze logs, troubleshoot system issues, and ensure database uptime and reliability.
• Provide expert advice on PostgreSQL/Greenplum internals, replication strategies, and cluster configurations.
• Stay up to date with advancements in database technology, especially in MPP architectures.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 12–15 years of experience in Database Administration, including at least 5+ years of in-depth Greenplum and PostgreSQL administration.
• Strong understanding of Greenplum internals, segment/primary/mirror nodes, resource queues, and parallel query execution.
• Experience managing large-scale telecom databases, including billing, usage, network, and customer data domains.

• Proven expertise in:
• SQL performance tuning
• Backup/recovery tools and scripts
• Data replication and partitioning
• DB patching, upgrades, and maintenance
• Familiarity with Oracle RDBMS (basic to intermediate level).
• Working knowledge of Linux OS and shell scripting.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills :

• Familiarity with ETL/data integration tools (e.g., Informatica, NiFi, Kafka pipelines).
• Exposure to cloud database technologies (AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, etc.) for hybrid models.
• Experience in automating DBA tasks and scripting for monitoring and alerting.
• Understanding of data governance, data privacy, and security compliance in telecom environments.
