🚀 Senior Backend Engineer – £140k + Equity | Remote (UK/EU timezones preferred)

Atarus has partnered with a fintech that’s rapidly scaling and now looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build out the infrastructure powering their global payment integrations.

💼 The Role

This is a backend-focused position (Kotlin / JVM / PostgreSQL) where you’ll:

• Own core parts of the payment integration platform
• Build scalable backend systems with real-world performance demands
• Collaborate across product, ops, and engineering to ship working features fast
• Help shape architecture, technical direction, and team culture as the company scales

Tech stack includes Kotlin, PostgreSQL, AWS (S3, Lambda, SQS/SNS), Terraform, Ansible.

👨‍💻 What They're Looking For

• 7+ years backend development experience
• Strong Kotlin or JVM background
• Confidence working with large-scale third-party API integrations
• Hands-on PostgreSQL and AWS experience
• Proven track record of delivering resilient, secure, and performant systems
• Comfortable in fast-paced, collaborative environments

Nice to have:

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible)
• Experience working in fintech or handling payments at scale
• Exposure to data pipelines or SRE practices
