About the job
The primary purpose of this role is to support the transition from Alteryx-based data infrastructure to Power BI by developing and optimizing Power BI dataflows, semantic models and dashboards using standard Power BI capabilities.
The Data Analyst will be responsible for recreating existing Alteryx workflows and business logic in Power BI, ensuring data integrity, consistency and usability for reporting and analytics. This includes working with Power Query (M language) for data transformation and DAX for calculated columns and measures, as needed.
While the main emphasis is on building scalable dataflows and semantic models, the role may also involve contributing to the development of Power BI dashboards and visual reports.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and develop Power BI Dataflows to extract, transform and load data from multiple sources, replacing existing Alteryx workflows.
- Apply Power Query (M language) to implement data transformation logic within dataflows.
- Build and optimize Power BI Semantic Models (datasets) using Star Schema best practices and DAX to support performant and scalable reporting solutions.
- Translate existing business logic and data preparation steps from Alteryx into the Power BI ecosystem
- Assist in building Power BI reports and dashboards, collaborating with business users to ensure alignment with business needs.
- Document dataflows, datasets and logic to ensure transparency and facilitate handover.
- Apply best practices for data validation, governance and performance optimization.
- Work collaboratively with analytics, business and IT stakeholders during the transition process.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Data Science, Engineering, Finance, or other relevant fields
- 3+ years of experience working with data transformation, modelling and visualization tools
- Hands-on experience building Power BI Dataflows, Semantic Models and Dashboards
- Prior experience with Alteryx workflows is a plus, especially in the context of transitioning logic to Power BI.
- Proficiency in Power BI, including Power Query (M language), data modelling and DAX.
- Solid understanding of data modelling principles (star schema).
- Familiarity with Power BI Service, including workspaces, datasets, and dataflow management.
- Experience documenting data transformation and reporting logic clearly for business and technical audiences.
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to data quality and performance.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a project-driven environment.
