As part of their ongoing growth, they’re seeking a talented and ambitious Senior Backend Engineer to join the team—someone ready to lead technical initiatives and help shape the future of their engineering practices.

The Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will take a leading role in designing, implementing, and maintaining a multi-service platform. Your expertise will be crucial in developing code that seamlessly integrates Redis, RabbitMQ, MySQL, and DynamoDB, utilizing various algorithms, master-master replication, and back-off retrial strategies. You'll be responsible for managing scaling, implementing weighting mechanisms, and continuously optimizing system performance. You'll be constantly seeking new tools and innovative approaches to improve the platform's capabilities and efficiency.

You’ll work on a platform designed for high data volumes and multi-tenant architecture, managing everything from automated AWS deployments to complex data and voice streaming. Initially, you’ll focus on understanding their platform's unique logic and architecture, ultimately contributing to solution design and process improvements.

This role goes beyond code—it's about leading by example, proactively identifying and solving complex engineering challenges, and growing into a leadership position in the engineering team. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, high-performance backend services that meet our clients' evolving needs.

There is an ambitious roadmap ahead, so you can expect to sink your teeth into some meaty projects with new integrations, a mobile app, and more work in AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and Develop: Design and maintain a scalable backend infrastructure for their call tracking and analytics platform.
• API Management: Lead the design and implementation of APIs to integrate with third-party platforms, including managing OAuth tokens to ensure seamless client access.
• Performance Optimization: Enhance application performance and proactively troubleshoot backend issues to ensure reliability.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with frontend and data teams to ensure smooth integration of user-facing features.
• Code Quality and Documentation: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while fostering best practices within the team.
• Security and Compliance: Uphold and continuously improve data security practices to safeguard client data.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor junior developers and contribute to a culture of excellence and innovation in engineering practices.

What you bring to the role

• 7+ years in backend development, with a strong track record of building and maintaining high-performance applications.
• Proficiency in server-side languages (e.g., PHP, Node.js, JavaScript)
• Experience with databases (e.g., MySQL, DynamoDB) and data modeling
• Familiarity with RESTful API design and integration
• Knowledge of containerization and deployment tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub)
• Experience with cloud services (preferably AWS)
• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
• Bonus points for: Background in call tracking, analytics, SMS, or communication technologies.
