Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Role: Principal AI Engineer

Location: Barcelona (Hybrid) (Relocation support is available)

Salary: €100K–€110K

We’re looking for a Principal AI Engineer to lead the design, build, and deployment of real-world AI systems – not just prototypes or prompt-driven demos. This is a high-impact, hands-on role within a confidential, global initiative where you’ll work on advanced Generative AI, MLOps, and traditional machine learning solutions.

What you’ll do

• Build and deploy Generative AI systems, including custom Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines
• Lead machine learning projects in areas such as predictive maintenance, optimisation, and automation
• Translate business needs into scalable, production-ready AI products
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to the technical direction of the team
• Drive best practices in MLOps, from model lifecycle management to CI/CD and monitoring

Example problems you’ll tackle

• Diagnosing noisy or inaccurate responses from deployed LLMs
• Building predictive models from very limited or sparse historical data
• Scaling GenAI pipelines with strong performance, compliance, and traceability

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience working with LLMs, Transformers, and Generative AI architectures
• A strong track record of deploying machine learning models into production environments
• Excellent Python skills and hands-on experience with frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn
• Solid knowledge of AWS services such as SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda, and S3
• Familiarity with time series analysis, anomaly detection, and mathematical optimisation
• Comfortable with software engineering best practices and model delivery at scale
• Bonus: experience with modern web frameworks or cloud data platforms
