Java Developer

About the Role

A permanent opportunity is available for a skilled Java Developer to join a small, collaborative team within a well-established organisation. You’ll be stepping into a hands-on role, providing coverage and support as a long-standing senior developer transitions to part-time.

You’ll take ownership of core development work on internal business systems, with opportunities to expand into broader project areas over time. This is a full-time role based in the office, transitioning to a hybrid arrangement (1 day WFH) after a 3-month probation. Flexible hours are supported within reason.

This role would suit someone with 3–5 years’ commercial Java experience who enjoys autonomy, end-to-end development, and working in a tight-knit team.

You Should Have

• 3–5 years’ commercial experience in Java development
• Strong experience with Java Spring or Spring Boot
• Solid understanding of Hibernate
• Ability to work independently and see projects through from start to finish
• Clear communication and strong problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with JSF (JavaServer Faces) and PrimeFaces
• Exposure to modern frontend frameworks such as React, Vue, or Next.js
• An interest in mentoring junior team members
• Experience working in small, agile teams

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain internal applications using Java and related frameworks
• Deliver features across the full development lifecycle
• Work closely with a senior developer and contribute to technical direction
• Operate with a high level of autonomy in a supportive, experienced team
• Contribute to a strong, positive team culture
