About The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Software Developer to join our client's dynamic team. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead technical initiatives within a large-scale digital transformation project aimed at revolutionizing their ecommerce and omnichannel customer experience. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the company's digital platforms, ensuring the delivery of scalable, resilient, and high-performance solutions. This position provides flexible working arrangements, including options for remote work, hybrid, or office-based work near South Devon, catering to diverse working preferences.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise and proven leadership experience. Essential qualifications include hands-on experience with PHP, JavaScript, React, HTML, and MySQL. A strong background in software architecture, design patterns, and scalable system development is required. Candidates should have a track record of leading development teams, delivering high-quality code, and implementing best practices in software engineering. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams are vital. Eligibility to live and work in the UK without sponsorship is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and strategic guidance throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to define technical strategies, system architecture, and project roadmaps.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of developers, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and excellence.
  • Design, develop, and deliver clean, scalable, and maintainable code for both front-end and back-end systems, adhering to best practices.
  • Implement and promote engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and scalability challenges proactively.
  • Champion Agile methodologies, facilitating iterative development cycles, stand-ups, and collaborative planning sessions.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance technical capabilities and solutions.
