You are...passionate about artificial intelligence, statistical analysis, and analytic methods, applying machine learning models to industry problems. You will be part of agile unit and will be collaborating with engineers, data engineers, map and location experts and fellow data scientists. We look for people who are curious, innovative, out of the box thinker, loves taking risk and work to make system better every day. What you'll do:

• You will help us collect large amounts of unruly (spatial) data and transform it into a more usable format.
• You will solve business-related problems using data-driven techniques.
• You will help us to stay on top of analytical techniques such as machine learning, deep learning, and text analytics.
• You will identify patterns in data, as well as spotting trends that can help improving the business's bottom line.
• You will communicate and collaborate with both Software Engineers and with the Maps Operations Team globally.
• Dedicate part of your weekly schedule on research and development to acquire new skills, run your own experiments, etc.
• Work in a mostly-remote and flexible way that will allow you find the perfect work-life balance.
  
  

What you'll need:

• You are enrolled in a Master's degree in data science, Big Data or any other related field for the whole duration of internship.
• You are eligible for a full-time internship (40 hours per week) for 6 months.
• You are fluent in English.
• You have programming experience with Python and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with statistical and predictive modeling using machine learning; knowledge of R is an added advantage.
• Have some experience with data visualization (storytelling) (e.g., Matplotlib or Seaborn) is a plus.
• Being familiar with Microsoft cloud computing (Azure & Databricks) or any other cloud experience is a plus.

Meet your teamWe're Maps, a product unit within TomTom's Location Technology Products technical unit. Our team is comprised of over 2,000 people in 40 countries - all driven to deliver the most up-to-date, accurate and detailed maps for the hundreds of millions of people using TomTom maps around the world. Joining our team, you'll help continuously innovate our map-making processes, create a real-time closed loop between detected changes in the real world and the users' map, and build maps that will enable the future of autonomous driving. Within Maps product unit, the Maps Analytics team is focused on creating efficient ways to state our map quality and drive insights to the map production teams that help the company evolve in a smart way.
