Why join us
Joining our team at Sainsbury's as a Data Scientist with a focus on Marketing Analytics means being part of a truly transformative journey. With access to vast amounts of data from billions of transactions, you'll have the opportunity to work with industry experts, leverage cutting-edge tools and technologies, and make a real impact by driving personalised customer experiences. We value collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning, offering a dynamic environment where you can thrive and contribute to redefining the future of retail. What You'll Do
You will play a crucial role in building our ability to personalise Sainsbury’s, Argos, Tu and Habitat marketing communications and driving desired customer behaviour through optimised offers and discounts.
Your responsibilities will include delivering, analysing, evolving, and innovating in order to efficiently and accurately deliver code that generates loyalty and commercial value. You will leverage our vast dataset, collaborating with our Single Customer View data team to ensure the development of documented, repeatable, scalable, and shareable code and outputs. With your strong skills in Python, SQL and data analysis, you will apply concepts such as predictive modelling and clustering to derive actionable insights. Your business acumen and commercial awareness will allow you to articulate desired outcomes and present analytics work concisely, while your ability to work both independently and collaboratively, combined with your drive for results will enable you to contribute effectively to the team. Ensuring the integrity of your work, you will pay careful attention to detail, maintain scepticism, and adhere to data quality, samples, bias and ethics standards. Staying at the forefront of the industry, you will stay aware of technology trends and directions in Analytics.
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of 1-2 working days in our Holborn office per week, the remainder being remote home working.
Who You Are
You are motivated by the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team, collaborating to push boundaries and create innovative systems and technologies. With your expertise in data science, programming languages such as Python, and SQL skills, you are experienced in analysing data in a corporate environment and utilising tools like Jupyter notebooks and Git for version control. Your strong analytical skills and knowledge of predictive modelling and clustering enables you to deliver models and insights that drive customer loyalty and commercial value. Your proactive approach to continuous learning, business acumen and ability to communicate effectively make you a valuable asset in driving the success of our marketing analytics initiatives.
Core skills / experience we are looking for:
Starting off with colleague discount, you'll be able to get 10% off at Sainsbury's, Argos, TU and Habitat after 4 weeks. This increases to 15% off at Sainsbury’s every Friday and Saturday and 15% off at Argos every pay day. We've also got you covered for your future with our pensions scheme and life cover. You'll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 10% of salary, depending on how we perform.
Your wellbeing is important to us too. You'll receive an annual holiday allowance, and you can buy additional holiday. We also offer other benefits that will help your money go further such as season ticket loans, cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, pay advance (where you can access some of your pay before pay day) as well access to a great range of discounts from hundreds of other retailers. And if you ever need it there is also an employee assistance programme.
Moments that matter are as important to us as they are to you which is why we give up to 26 weeks’ pay for maternity or adoption leave and up to 4 weeks’ pay for paternity leave.
Please see www.sainsburys.jobs for a range of our benefits (note, length of service and eligibility criteria may apply).
