Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - First 3 months 100% onsite; 4 days onsite starting November)

The Operations Analyst I will support the transaction lifecycle of documentary letters of credit, collections, and payments. This role demands a working knowledge of international rules (UCP 600, ISBP 725, URC 522, ISP 98, URDG 758), local and foreign statutory requirements, and a high regard for internal policies and regulatory compliance.
The Business Analyst will provide technical subject matter expertise to the team, maintain a strong risk management culture, and act as the primary contact for trade finance transactions. This includes handling complex trade finance instruments, working closely with clients and internal partners, and ensuring timely, compliant, and accurate transaction execution.
You will be responsible for identifying potential AML and ATF red flags, supporting risk mitigation, and leading or participating in small-scale initiatives and cross-functional projects.
ResponsibilitiesHandle the full transaction lifecycle of documentary letters of credit and collections
Apply advanced knowledge of ICC trade finance rules and regulations
Maintain compliance with internal risk, AML, ATF, and business continuity protocols
Act as the main client contact for technical trade finance matters
Coach, mentor, and support team members and new clients
Provide solutions to complex trade transactions while mitigating operational risk
Analyze and prioritize workflow to meet multiple deadlines
Represent the trade finance function in projects and stakeholder meetings
Manage daily financial decisions and ensure issuance of compliant trade instruments
Execute ad hoc requests of moderate to high complexity and financial impact
Propose process enhancements and identify areas of straight-through processing (STP)
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, International Business, or related discipline
Experience
Minimum 3 years of Trade Finance Operations experience (preferably with a financial institution)
Working knowledge of AML and ATF practices in Trade Finance
Strong Microsoft Office skills; other programming tools are an asset
Industry-specific experience across diverse sectors is preferred
Certifications (Nice to Have)
CDCS and/or CSDG certifications
