AI Engineer – 6+ Months – Breda/Hybrid

Are you an AI Engineer with a passion for innovation, high-performance computing, and AI infrastructure? Do you enjoy building solutions from scratch in a fast-paced, exploratory environment? We're working with a forward-thinking organization in Breda that is embarking on an exciting new journey, developing an on-prem AI platform to support custom language model development for specialized ICT programs.

The Opportunity:

This is a greenfield project where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, environment setup, and tooling required to run and test LLMs (Large Language Models) on custom hardware in the client's private data center. The goal is to remove all barriers to experimentation, enabling instant testing and iteration with AI models on-premises.

You'll be responsible for researching, designing, and delivering the foundational environment and infrastructure, including tooling such as AutoShell AI, Jupyter, and high-performance computing (HPC) frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver AI-ready cloud/on-prem environments tailored to language model experimentation
• Set up and manage a secure and scalable HPC infrastructure in the client's datacenter
• Build automated pipelines and tooling to enable fast, repeatable LLM testing
• Research and evaluate techniques and tools (LLM frameworks, GPU utilization, etc.)
• Integrate platforms like Jupyter for experimentation and visualization
• Work closely with ICT stakeholders to ensure infrastructure meets their model and hardware needs
• Define future architecture for on-prem AI capabilities with long-term scalability in mind

Key Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience in cloud or on-prem infrastructure engineering for AI/ML applications
• Experience with LLMs, AI tooling, and language model deployment workflows
• Strong skills in Python, Shell scripting, and environmental automation
• Familiarity with AutoShell AI, Jupyter, or similar AI toolchains (or willingness to ramp up quickly)
• Background in high-performance computing (HPC) or GPU-intensive workloads
• Understanding of hybrid environments, custom hardware integration, and data center operations
• Ability to work independently and explore emerging AI infrastructure techniques
