Network Engineer

Network Engineer – Cisco, Palo Alto, & Routing Protocols

Location: Onsite work required 3–4 days per week across multiple NYC locations, including Midtown and Hudson Yards.

Contract with CDW for 6 months (Potential extension)

CDW is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer with deep expertise in routing protocols and hands-on experience with Cisco and Palo Alto platforms. This role is central to implementing a multi-location network architecture to support the integration of two organizations as part of a larger M&A initiative. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, able to operate effectively across business and technical teams, and bring a structured, analytical approach to network design, deployment, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and support routing architectures across multiple sites and data centers.
• Lead network integration activities during mergers, including data center consolidation and unified security policies.
• Support connectivity strategies using Cisco technologies, Palo Alto firewalls, and Azure ExpressRoute.
• Ensure network designs are resilient, scalable, and secure to support business continuity.
• Serve as a point of escalation for network incidents, applying structured troubleshooting and swarming methodologies.
• Document architecture and transition plans to support future operations and onboarding.
• Collaborate across teams from both organizations, providing clear technical direction and updates.

Key Skills & Requirements:

Routing Protocols:

• Strong expertise in BGP and EIGRP
• Understanding of WAN traffic aggregation and hybrid cloud connectivity

Platforms & Tools:

• Deep, hands-on knowledge of Cisco networking technologies
• Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and security infrastructure
• Familiarity with Azure ExpressRoute and cloud network integration

Certifications:

• CCIE certification preferred or demonstrated equivalent experience

Professional Experience:

• Previous involvement in M&A-driven network integration
• Experience managing routing and redundancy across geographically distributed environments
• Ability to work independently and meet project milestones in a fast-paced environment
• Strong documentation and knowledge base development skills are a plus

Work Environment:

• Onsite presence required 3–4 days per week
• Primary locations include offices in Midtown Manhattan and Hudson Yards, NYC

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional network initiatives during organizational change
• Experience supporting infrastructure during go-live and transition periods
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
