Develop state-of-the-art avionics to enable high-tech drone missions!
Avy pioneers unmanned aviation technology for emergency services and life-saving applications. We partner with innovative organizations that are among the first in the world to integrate long-range drone operations into their daily workflows.
We thrive on innovation, agility, and bold ideas, and we’ve developed a range of cutting-edge products that are ready to make an impact at scale. We’re an award-winning scale-up in the aviation industry. We pride ourselves on combining an innovative garage startup culture with being a professional and safety-minded aviation organisation
About the role
Avy builds autonomous VTOL drones that soar through the skies at 120 meters altitude and speeds of up to 140 km/h—faster than your average highway traffic. These high-tech marvels rely on a network of embedded systems that must work seamlessly together.
We are looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer to supercharge reliability and build new functionality into our drone fleet by developing advanced, robust avionics. You will contribute to Avy’s mission of building a BVLOS drone network that acts as an eye in the sky, while working on drone technology with real-world impact!
As part of the Embedded Systems team, you’ll design, develop, test, and maintain the electronic and computing subsystems across Avy’s products. That means designing PCBs, writing firmware, and making the cabling inside our flagship VTOL drone, which we call Aera. You will also be working on servos, motors, ESCs for propulsion, and on smart controllers and chargers for our autonomous docking stations. In short: if it has got wires or code, you will have a hand in making it work flawlessly!
You won’t just be seeing your designs from behind a desk at Avy; you get to see them fly!
Key responsibilities
You are a passionate, hardworking, hands-on Embedded Systems Engineer who has (at least) 3-5 years of work experience, ideally with a Bachelor's degree in Embedded Systems, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a similar field. You are enthusiastic about drone technology and are eager to learn and contribute. It is a big plus if you have any hands-on experience building, flying, or working with UAV systems. You should be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced environment. You have strong problem-solving skills and pay attention to detail.
Requirements
๐ Impactful work: be part of a company using technology to save lives and drive sustainability
โญ Leading the drone revolution: work on advanced aerial systems projects that keep you on the front lines of innovation as we shape the future of drone technology
๐ฐ Competitive salary ranging between โฌ 3800 - โฌ 4700 gross based on 40 hours work week, depending on the level of seniority
๐ด Unlimited time off: take the time you need to recharge and stay at your best
๐ข An inspiring office: work from our awesome space in Amsterdam, featuring a maker space, sauna, and great lunches!
๐ข Startup experience: embrace the excitement, freedom, and fast growth of an ambitious tech startup
๐ค A great culture: a warm and fun atmosphere with regular get-togethers, drinks, and celebrations plus a work environment built on trust, freedom, and learning from mistakes
