We are currently looking for a Senior Level Designer on a 12 month fixed term contract, to help us craft a new, unannounced game.

We are looking for a well-rounded senior level designer to join our team and take responsibility for designing, iterating, and developing world-class maps which complement and enhance our varied game modes and characters.

Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, and implement new game maps which are fun, engaging, and in alignment with the core vision of the game.
  • Collaborate with game mode designers, combat designers, and other departments to ensure map blockouts align with the needs of the wider team.
  • Ensure blockouts offer strategic depth to help promote replayability.
  • Gather feedback from playtests, user data, and cross-functional teams to iterate on game maps and improve the player experience.
  • Maintain detailed and organized documentation for level designs and maps to help inform the wider group on the design direction.
  • Participate in the tuning and balancing of game modes and maps to ensure they are fair and enjoyable for players of all skill levels.
  • Work closely with the combat AI team to ensure our non player characters can navigate the maps and provide great combat experiences.
  • Maintain the highest possible levels of design quality, while respecting technical limitations and performance targets.
  • Collaborate with our art department to ensure level designs consider the map location’s theme, tone and narrative lore.
  • Partner with the art team to populate levels with props and furnishings, and ensure collision and occlusion volumes are accurate.
  • Collect, analyze, and apply data and user feedback as part of the iterative process of improvement to your level designs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong, confirmed 3D-level design experience with at least one shipped title.
  • Strong paper design (layout) skills and experience.
  • Confidence and experience to self-manage and self-motivate.
  • Experience in grey-boxing and fast iteration of levels based on user feedback.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Good understanding of level design for combat arenas

Plusses

  • Experience designing levels/modes for live-service games.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and iterative design processes.
  • Knowledge of user data analysis and metrics-based iteration for optimizing game modes.
  • A strong grasp of balancing and tuning level design in collaboration with gameplay designers to produce maps which suit both casual and competitive players.
