Network Engineer – 6-Month Contract (Fully Remote with Occasional Travel)

Location: London-based organisation (remote, occasional on-site travel)

Contract Length: 6 months

Rate: £400–£550/day (Outside IR35)

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Network Engineer to support a major system migration project, followed by ongoing BAU (Business-as-Usual) support. This role is fully remote but may require occasional travel to sites as needed during key project phases.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative tech team, working on a high-impact transformation while ensuring the stability and performance of enterprise network infrastructure post-migration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the delivery of a network and infrastructure migration project
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot core networking components (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs)
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors on implementation plans
  • Assist in network documentation, change control, and post-migration support
  • Transition into BAU support—handling incident response, performance tuning, and small-scale changes
  • Participate in regular remote meetings and occasional on-site sessions

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience delivering enterprise-level network migrations
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, VLANs, and firewall technologies (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto)
  • Experience with VPNs, SD-WAN, and network segmentation
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG)
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage tasks in a fully remote setup
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or equivalent are highly desirable

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive day rate £400–£550/day (Outside IR35)
  • Fully remote contract with flexible working hours
  • 6-month engagement with opportunity for extension
  • Involvement in a mission-critical system migration followed by stable BAU operations
