Junior Golang Developer

We are looking for a Junior Computer Scientist to join our team. The primary focus of this role is to develop and maintain web scraping pipelines in Go (Golang), while also contributing to general backend development efforts. You will work on extracting data from diverse web sources, ensuring robustness, performance, and scalability. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about data acquisition, backend systems, and solving real-world problems through automation and clean code.

What you will be doing:

• Design, implement, and maintain web scraping pipelines using Go;
• Ensure reliability and scalability of scraping systems and manage scraping infrastructure;
• Develop and support backend systems that integrate with other services (APIs, databases, etc.);
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to understand data needs and deliver structured datasets;
• Monitor, debug, and optimize scraping jobs and backend workflows for performance and efficiency;
• Handle challenges such as anti-bot systems, rate limits, and data deduplication;
• Participate in system architecture discussions and help shape technical direction;
• Write clean, well-documented, and tested code that adheres to industry best practices.

Requirements:

• Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field;
• Past programming contact with Go (Golang) or williness to learn;
• Understanding of HTTP, HTML parsing, and web protocols;
• Familiarity with concurrent programming, APIs, and RESTful services;
• Past contact with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL);
• Basic knowledge of containerization (e.g., Docker) and CI/CD tools is a plus;
• Critical thinker with an appetite for automation and process improvement;
• Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment;
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Location:

We’re based in Porto, Portugal. Although there is the possibility of remote working, we are only considering people located in Portugal.
