It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe.

We value diversity of experiences and skills, and you could bring unique perspectives to our team.Context And MissionThe BSC communication team's mission is to publicize the BSC and its activity through the center's own channels (web, profiles in social networks, corporate communication materials, visits to MareNostrum supercomputer), the media and the organization and participation in activities to strengthen the public awareness and understanding of science and technology.The chosen person will coordinate media relations and supervise and produce scientific and institutional content to engage target audiences.Key DutiesTo lead media relations team within the Communications UnitTo define and implement media strategies aligned with institutional goals, ensuring coherence across all external communications.To prepare and supervise press releases and other communications materials for different audiences.To liaise with media contacts ensuring key messages are communicated accurately and effectively and keeping a close eye on media coverage.To monitor media coverage and use key performance indicators (KPIs).To produce and supervise the production of content in different formats such as videos, infographics etc for use in different communication channels.To coordinate the communication with the external partners involved (companies or other research centers) in each case.To manage crisis communication and identify potential risks.To collaborate in institutional communication activities.To contribute to the planning and evaluation of the overall communications strategy, providing media-specific insight.RequirementsEducationBachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a scientific/technological field.Master's or postgraduate qualifications in science communication, public relations, or related areas will be considered an asset.Essential Knowledge and Professional ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in scientific communication and media relations.Proven ability to develop and implement media strategies in research or academic environments.Strong background in science or technology.Exceptional scientific writing and editorial skills,.Full professional proficiency in English, Spanish, and Catalan.Knowledge of other European languages will be an advantage.CompetencesExcellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities with strong attention to detail.Skilled at translating complex scientific concepts into accessible content for diverse audiences.Creative mindset with the ability to generate engaging narratives and media angles.Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities.Proactive and solution-oriented, with a collaborative approach to team and cross-unit work.Confident communicator, capable of interacting with researchers, journalists, and institutional partners.ConditionsThe position will be located at BSC within the Management DepartmentWe offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation proceduresDuration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget durationHolidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreementSalary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in BarcelonaStarting date: 16/08/2025Applications procedure and processAll applications must be submitted via the BSC website and contain:A full CV in English including contact detailsA cover/motivation letter with a statement of interest in English, clearly specifying for which specific area and topics the applicant wishes to be considered.
