Your Contribution to Our Growth

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Backend Developer to work closely with our Front Office engineering team to redesign our order management system (OMS) from the ground up and build highly scalable backend systems that drive platform performance and growth. Our current OMS is built with TypeScript and Node.js which you'll be mainly coding with, and in the future we plan to re-architect and rebuild this in Java with Spring Boot. You’ll also contribute to our client onboarding systems, payment infrastructure, and trading-related services.

As a SME, you'll play a key role in supporting our trading teams and shaping the future of digital finance. You won’t just be writing code—you’ll be actively involved in architecture and system design discussions, building performant services that power critical workflows. This is a full-time, permanent, hybrid position out of our Downtown Toronto or Downtown Vancouver office.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-availability backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and interpret technical requirements and system design.
• Actively engage in architectural discussions and propose solutions to system design challenges with scalability, reliability, and security in mind.
• Lead and participate in code reviews, ensuring code quality and sharing knowledge with peers.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to our code standards and best practices.
• Mentor junior developers, fostering an environment of growth and learning within the team.
• Able to lead projects, and solve problems independently.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure our stack remains competitive.

We’d Love to See

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in backend development, with a focus on Node.JS, TypeScript, and Java
• Expertise in designing and developing RESTful APIs and a strong understanding of various web protocols.
• Experience with containerization and serverless architectures.
• Deep knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
• Familiarity with AWS services and knowledge of best practices.
• Proficient in software design and architecture, particularly in cloud environments.
• Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
• Exposure to different messaging systems, event driven architecture, and real-time data processing.
• Commitment to writing comprehensive tests and maintaining high code quality.
• Experience in a fintech or related industry, with an understanding of financial systems in the trading, payments, FX, crypto industry.
• Interest or experience in blockchain and decentralized technologies.
