The opportunity

Our client is a community focused federal government agency. They have an exciting opportunity available for a Test Data Analyst to join their Actuarial Data & Analytics Division in ensuring high quality data and reporting are translating insights into measurable business performance improvements.


This will be a 12-month initial contract with two further 12 month extensions possible, offering open market hourly rates. Our client can base this role out of Richmond or Geelong, supporting hybrid working with 2-3 days on site per week, with the remainder from home.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building up and leading the Data and Analytics Squad the implementation of the ADA Quality
  • Assurance framework in all projects, products or initiatives;
  • Defining the scope of testing within the context of each release/delivery;
  • Plans and coordinate test activities with the Product Owner (System Test, SIT, UAT)
  • Build the test cases for each release and ensure test coverage of traceability to requirements and solution.
  • When required, perform various tests on data and reports, finding defects, retesting and regression testing.
  • Responsible for monitoring the test process and leading the team to ensure the test goes to plan.

Essential criteria

  • At least 4 years' experience in testing data intensive initiatives and advance analytics related initiatives/projects, reports and dashboards
  • At least 6 years' software testing experience in leading Data and Functional/System Integration Testing
  • Intermediate to Advanced SQL skills
  • Sound understanding of ETL process and data warehousing practices
  • Proven ability in preparing test artefacts such as Test Plan, Test Execution, test cases, Test Progress Reports and Test Summary/Completion Report
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable criteria

  • Sound understanding of the Software Quality Assurance best practices
  • Well versed in use of JIRA as Test and Defect Management Tool, including X-ray plug-in
  • Exposed to Agile and/or Hybrid ways of project Management methodology
  • Hands-on experience on and implementation of test automation
