Chief Network Engineer in Network Reliability and Optimization

Job Description

We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team, focused on enhancing network reliability, optimising performance, and ensuring compliance. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the first line of support, empowering them with knowledge and tools to improve operational efficiency. You will also work alongside delivery teams to ensure that network-related deliverables meet high standards of quality and reliability.

As a Network Engineer, you will provide second-line support for operational processes, managing network patching and upgrades to maintain a secure and efficient environment. Additionally, you will play a critical role in increasing network compliance and observability, ensuring that our infrastructure is aligned with industry standards.

This role requires a strong technical acumen, as you will serve as a subject-matter expert, contributing to technical decisions and providing guidance on complex network issues. You will not only work on maintaining and optimising our network but also have the opportunity to influence the evolution of our network services in a meaningful way.

You will:

• Act as a technical leader, driving critical decisions and shaping the future of the bank's network infrastructure
• Take ownership of network-related initiatives, demonstrating a self-driven approach to improving and optimising network performance
• Provide guidance on complex technical issues, influencing both strategic and operational decisions
• Collaborate with the first line of support to empower them while acting as a key escalation point for resolving complex technical problems
• Work closely with delivery teams to ensure network deliverables not only meet but exceed quality and reliability standards
• Lead efforts to enhance network observability by implementing advanced monitoring tools and methodologies
• Drive innovation by identifying opportunities to evolve and future-proof network services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network strategies with broader organisational goals, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency
  
  

About you:

• Solid understanding of network fundamentals, including routing, switching, and related protocols
• Hands-on experience in deploying and managing networks in public cloud infrastructures (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
• Experience in delivering complex network solutions in enterprise environments
• Strong ability to make sound technical decisions, even for resolving complex technical problems
• Technical experience in networking infrastructure with over 4+ years of hands-on expertise
• Experience with network and automation tools is an advantage
• Exposure to software-defined network products (e.g., Cisco ACI) is considered a plus
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration and decision-making
• Advanced skills in English

Monthly salary range from 5440 EUR to 8160 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).
