Role Purpose
As a Computer Systems Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain IT&C systems that align with business goals and user needs. You will serve as a key technical expert and project leader, ensuring that systems are efficient, secure, and adaptable. This role requires a blend of technical proficiency, analytical thinking, and strong interpersonal skills to support continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities/Accountability:
- Translate Business Needs into IT Solutions: Analyse workflows and processes to define system requirements and design tailored IT&C solutions.
- Design, Integrate, and Maintain Systems: Select, configure, and implement hardware and software systems that enhance organizational performance.
- Ensure Security and Reliability: Apply best practices in data protection, system redundancy, and network security to maintain operational integrity.
- Lead and Support IT Projects: Manage the full lifecycle of IT initiatives, including planning, testing, deployment, and user training.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Provide technical support and guidance to departments, ensuring systems meet evolving needs.
- Monitor and Apply Technological Trends: Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovations that improve efficiency and service quality.
- Support End Users: Deliver training, documentation, and ongoing support to ensure effective use of IT systems and tools.
- Maintain Compliance and Safety Standards: Apply occupational safety, fire prevention, and data security standards in all IT operations.
- Manage System Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of system configurations, incidents, and maintenance activities.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for system optimization and lead initiatives that enhance IT service delivery and user experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Proven experience in system design, integration, and administration across diverse IT environments.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems, networking (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP), and cybersecurity principles.
- Proficiency in database systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and data backup/recovery strategies.
- Familiarity with enterprise platforms (e.g., SAP, Microsoft, Lotus Notes) and cloud-based services.
- Programming or scripting experience (e.g., C++, Java, Python, PowerShell).
- Experience in project management, including planning, risk assessment, and team collaboration.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and train users effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and maintain attention to detail.
- Understanding of workplace safety, fire prevention, and emergency response procedures.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development through self-study and formal training.
