Test Automation Specialist

Our client is seeking a skilled Test Automation Specialist to support the development and continuous improvement of high-quality digital solutions. This role is central to ensuring the successful implementation of digital transformation initiatives, with a focus on the EU Academy e-Learning platform — an innovative solution designed to support EU policy knowledge through modern, engaging learning technologies.

The QA Test Engineer will collaborate closely with developers, analysts, and stakeholders, primarily supporting Moodle-based solutions hosted on an AWS infrastructure, and working within an agile development environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business analysts, users, and developers to understand requirements and ensure test coverage.
  • Review, analyze, and test software requirements, user stories, and designs.
  • Define and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, and scenarios using test management tools like Xray and Jira.
  • Execute manual and automated tests (functional, regression, exploratory) across multiple browsers and devices for both web and mobile platforms.
  • Conduct performance and load testing using JMeter; analyze test results, identify bottlenecks, and track defects.
  • Implement automated tests using Selenium and Appium; utilize Kotlin and Gherkin for BDD (Behavior-Driven Development).
  • Coordinate internal and external testing campaigns and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
  • Investigate and diagnose site incidents, applying workarounds and collecting diagnostic data (logs, screenshots, etc.).
  • Validate data tracking and reporting functionality using Firebase and other analytics tools.
  • Participate in test-driven development practices in collaboration with the development team.
  • Support Moodle platform migration and ensure functionality across multilingual installations.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Eqf Level 6)
  • Experience:
    • 4+ years of hands-on manual testing experience with LMS platforms (preferably Moodle).
    • 5+ years experience with test management tools (e.g., Jira, Xray, Confluence).
    • Proven expertise in automated testing using Selenium or Appium; experience with Kotlin and Gherkin for BDD.
    • Strong knowledge of Moodle architecture; experience with Moodle installations supporting 500,000+ users in multilingual environments.
    • 2+ years experience in performance testing using JMeter.
    • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies (functional, regression, integration, UAT).
    • Experience with SQL-based test data preparation (preferably MySQL).
    • Extensive background in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Certifications:
    • ISTQB Certification (mandatory)
