Essential skills include infrastructure/network penetration testing, web application testing (including web services), technical report writing, familiarity with common penetration frameworks and tools, and problem-solving.

Desirable skills include code review, mobile testing, bespoke testing (mainframe, hardware, wireless), proficiency in a second language, history of conference presentations, and expert-level skills in areas like Active Directory, software development, or cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications mandate at least 3 years of penetration testing experience in a dedicated role, or equivalent experience in system/network administration, programming, or a relevant degree in Security/IT. The role also requires strong analytical skills, good interpersonal and organizational abilities, effective written English, and relevant certifications such as Offensive Security, SANS, or CREST.
