System Engineer

Salt has partnered with an Australian owned and operated, ASX-listed corporate bookmaker offering sports and racing betting, iGaming, on scalable cloud-based tech platform.

We’re actively interviewing candidates for an ASAP start 3-month contract engagement, working part-time (3 days / week) to join the business’s corporate technology division as a System Engineer.

We’re looking for a Systems Engineer with strong DevOps experience to help manage, automate, and secure our cloud and on-prem environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and support infrastructure across VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
• Manage and optimise Intune environments (co-managed via MSP) for both Windows and Mac devices
• Maintain secure, redundant, and well-documented systems and backup strategies
• Write and maintain custom automation scripts to reduce manual tasks and increase efficiency
• Support and maintain Office 365 and Azure Active Directory environments
• Coordinate user account management (onboarding, offboarding, changes)
• Assist in monthly patching, server maintenance, and broader system improvement projects
• Contribute to BAU support and automation initiatives across cloud and infrastructure

Required Experience and Key Skills:

• Proven experience in systems administration and DevOps-focused automation
• Strong scripting capability (PowerShell, Python, or similar)
• Experience managing Intune in a mixed-device environment
• Good understanding of cloud services (Azure a must; AWS nice to have)
• A proactive mindset – someone who looks to improve processes, not just maintain them
• Ability to balance BAU work with project-based improvements
