People & Culture Advisor

Are you a passionate HR professional ready to lead a dynamic team and drive strategic people initiatives across a progressive local government organisation? We’re seeking a People & Culture Advisor to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering integrated people strategies that support a thriving and engaged workforce.
Your new role
Reporting to the Manager People & Culture, you will lead a team of HR and payroll professionals, overseeing the delivery of core HR functions and business partnering across the organisation. You’ll be instrumental in implementing key strategic frameworks including the Workforce Plan, Attraction and Retention Strategy, Gender Equality Action Plan, and Learning and Development programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of HR services including recruitment, performance management, industrial relations, and payroll.
- Coaching and advising leaders on workforce planning, organisational change, and employee engagement.
- Driving continuous improvement in HR systems, policies, and processes.
- Managing complex employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
- Monitoring workforce trends and contributing to strategic planning and budgeting.
What you'll need to succeed
- You are an experienced HR leader with strong business partnering skills and a passion for building high-performing teams. You bring:
- Proven experience in HR leadership, preferably within government or complex organisations.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial relations, and enterprise agreements.
- Exceptional interpersonal and coaching skills with the ability to influence and guide stakeholders.
- Experience in payroll oversight and HR systems management.
- A collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving and service delivery.
