APPLICATION ENGINEER - KORTRIJK (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION

Job Description

We're currently recruiting a technically skilled and customer-oriented Application Engineer to join an employer in Kortrijk, who will act as a key interface between customers and the R&D organization.

This role focuses on understanding how our technologies are applied in the real world, helping validate applications, and translating field experience into valuable insights for continuous product improvement.

As an Application Engineer, you will work directly with customers to support field trials, identify challenges, and ensure products perform as intended in practice - not just in theory.

You’ll bring clarity to how our systems behave in real-world use cases and ensure that customer needs and usage patterns are effectively communicated back to internal teams. This is a hands-on, problem-solving role that blends technical knowledge with strong communication and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and lead testing of products and features in real-world environments; ensure functionality aligns with practical usage scenarios.
• Serve as a technical contact for customer teams, gathering feedback and supporting integration and deployment efforts.
• Translate field experience and user behavior into structured input for R&D, contributing to product refinement and innovation.
• Create and maintain practical documentation such as application notes, troubleshooting guides, and real-world usage examples.
• Work closely with engineers, designers, product managers, and support teams to bridge gaps between product design and customer experience.
• Assist in delivering product demonstrations, technical onboarding, and training for both customers and internal stakeholders.
• Investigate technical issues encountered in the field and work with R&D to support timely and effective resolutions.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in technology, engineering, software, or ICT gained through professional experience, vocational training, or self-directed learning.
• Hands-on technical experience with systems, software, or hardware in real-world environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions.
• Strong analytical thinking and a solution-oriented mindset.
• Experience in application engineering, technical support, systems integration, or field engineering.
• Experience working with or supporting R&D teams in iterative product development.
