Useful Information

• This is a 7- to 12-month, full-time Work Placement Internship (36-40h/w) in a hybrid setting in Amsterdam (fully remote can be considered).
• Open to applicants who are nationals of the EU or hold a valid visa that covers the desired internship duration.
• A lump sum may cover reimbursement of travel expenses for taking up the appointment and leaving.
• A flat-rate allowance of €900 per month will be provided as a contribution towards living expenses.
• Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview or test and informed of the selection outcome.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining robust, secure, and efficient RESTful and GraphQL APIs. These APIs will handle user management, course access, content delivery, and other platform-relevant functionalities.
• Assist in designing, creating, and optimizing data storage and retrieval for various data types (e.g., user data, course content, progress tracking) using a combination of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Assist in implementing caching strategies to improve performance and scalability for frequently accessed data.
• Assist in integrating third-party APIs for payment processing, user authentication, and other services.
• Assist in implementing serverless architectures leveraging AWS services like Lambda, SQS, SNS, and Aurora.
• Ensure code quality through automated testing, monitoring and observability.

Experience

• Hands-on experience as a Back-end developer is a big plus.
• Knowledge of TypeScript, React or Node.js.
• Hands-on expertise in NoSQL.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing APIs.
• Experience with AWS is required.
• Experience in automated testing frameworks (Cypress or Playwright) is a big plus.
• Proficiency with Git.
• Well-organised, disciplined, and capable of handling multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, without burning out.
• Good verbal and written communication in English.
