About the role

Sygnum is seeking a visionary Tech Lead to drive the next evolution of our proprietary tokenization platform - an integral part of our mission to unlock the future of finance through blockchain technology. As the tokenization industry enters a pivotal phase of real-world adoption, this role offers the opportunity to lead the integration of advanced smart contract capabilities and cutting-edge solutions, shaping a platform at the forefront of digital asset innovation. You’ll play a key role in a strategic transformation of a system that has already proven its value, helping scale its architecture, enhance interoperability, and embed it more deeply within Sygnum’s digital asset ecosystem.

As a tech lead, you are comfortable wearing two hats: technical and managerial.

With the technical, you will:

• Lead a team of software engineers to develop and own state-of-the-art solutions.
• Constantly enhance the quality and security of applications, actively managing the quality of the systems.
• Actively take part in developing new features and improvements by writing and reviewing high-quality, secure code with comprehensive test coverage.
• Collaborate with platform engineers to enhance CI/CD pipelines and streamline release processes, leverage AI and automation to reduce cognitive load, improve quality, and scale developer productivity.
• Collaborate with SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) and solution architects to perfect application availability, resilience, and observability.
• Respond to production incidents promptly and efficiently, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and restore service continuity.

With the managerial, you will:

• Nurture and guide software engineers through coaching and mentoring.
• Enhance the team's efficiency and effectiveness by driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with product managers and stakeholders to plan new features and improvements.
• Facilitate blameless retrospectives and post-mortems to foster a culture of learning from mistakes.
• Cultivate a psychologically safe environment where every team member feels empowered to contribute meaningfully to the organisation's growth.

Our ideal candidate

This is a great opportunity for you if:

• You like to create scalable backend services based on our tech-stack: Java/Quarkus and/or Node.js running on AWS.
• You are proficient in Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitLab CI/CD.
• Understanding microservices, event-driven architecture and being able to implement features with focus on performance, fault tolerance and security.
• Experience working with RDBMS (ideally PostgreSQL).
• Prior experience with cryptocurrencies is preferred but not needed.
• You are comfortable taking ownership of the whole development lifecycle, from designing solutions to running the application in production.
• You enjoy doing both technical and people leadership work.
• You have a collaborative and growth mindset.
• Prior experience in dealing with various stakeholders (Business users, IT Architecture, Product Owners, Business Analysts).
• You bring enthusiasm to both greenfield and established (brownfield) projects.
