My client, a premier Canadian bank with a leading presence in commercial banking and a reputation for innovation and stability, is seeking a PMO Practice Manager for a 6-month full-time contract. This role is a unique opportunity to shape the future of project management within a dynamic and influential organization.
About the Role
This is not a project manager position—it’s a strategic leadership role. As a PMO Practice Manager, you'll be a key driver of project management standards, governance, and maturity. You will be responsible for defining and implementing best practices, tools, and methodologies that will elevate the capabilities of the entire PMO. You'll act as a subject matter expert, consulting with project managers and leadership to ensure alignment with business goals and to champion a culture of accountability and excellence.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional projects and a deep understanding of PMO frameworks. You'll work collaboratively with your peers and senior leaders to advance organizational change and ensure compliance and audit readiness. Key Responsibilities
- Elevate and Evolve: Lead the development and continuous improvement of PMO methodologies, tools, and frameworks to drive consistency and operational excellence.
- Influence & Govern: Serve as a thought leader and key advisor, ensuring project governance, compliance, and audit readiness are aligned and successfully completed.
- Build Capability: Design and implement training, onboarding, and learning programs to enhance project management skills across the organization.
- Consult & Collaborate: Partner with project teams and leaders to embed best practices and solve complex challenges.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- 15+ years of progressive experience in project/program management, with at least 5 years in a leadership or practice management role.
- A proven track record of managing complex, enterprise-level projects with significant organizational impact.
- Expert knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile, Lean).
- Exceptional communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Extensive change management experience.
- Self-starter with a quick learning ability and a proactive attitude.
Nice-to-Haves:
- PMP or equivalent certification.
- Prior experience in the financial services industry.
