The Role

We have an exciting temporary full-time Human Resources Consultant position available until 13 February 2026 (unless otherwise determined) to join our People and Culture team at TAFE Queensland’s South Bank Campus.

As a Human Resources Consultant, You Will

  • work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and support the delivery of a range of human resources activities within the Region;
  • lead the planning and coordination of human resources related events and initiatives within the Region; and
  • analyse human resources related data and/or information, and generating reports as required.


This position reports to the Manager, Human Resources (Operations)

Salary

The salary range for a Human Resources Consultant is $89,141.87 - $97,717.42 (gross) per annum plus superannuation contributions of 12.75% of your salary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Focusing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current human resource legislation, regulations, policies, procedures and practices to ensure the provision of accurate and timely advice and support to Region managers and employees across a broad range of human resources functions including:
    • employee entitlements;
    • performance management;
    • recruitment and selection;
    • role descriptions and job analysis/evaluations;
    • human resource information systems; and
    • professional development.
  • Coordinate a range of human resources related activities and processes, including but not limited to:
    • flexible work arrangements;
    • non permanent employment reviews;
    • increments and other payroll driven activities across the region;
    • compilation and monitoring of human resources related documentation and approvals; and
    • employee surveys.
  • Provide training, support and informal mentoring/coaching to other Region employees with a view to building workforce capability.
  • Support the region with the provision of human resources related data, providing regular, accurate and meaningful reports to enable the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), local managers, and the Human Resources team to proactively engage in strategic and operational workforce planning, management and development activities.
  • Apply relevant project management strategies to lead and/or coordinate a number of human resources related projects, events and/or initiatives for the Region; and where relevant, represent the Region’s interests on TAFE Queensland wide project/working groups to capitalise on synergies with TAFE Queensland wide strategies and priorities.
  • Actively participate in relevant operational networks and working parties throughout TAFE Queensland, providing representation and advocacy on behalf of the Region.
  • Provide administrative services to support the Human Resources team, including:
    • the preparation of correspondence and associated documentation; and
    • mailbox management;
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by proactively seeking and facilitating opportunities to impart knowledge to team members and through active participation in the development and review of business processes, documentation and practices as they relate to human resources.
  • Proactively participate in local Performance Planning and Development (PPD) processes, seeking opportunities for self-development and contributing to the maximisation of developmental opportunities for members of the Human Resources team.

How You Will Be Assessed

  • Sound knowledge of, and the ability to interpret and apply, human resource management legislation, policies, procedures and practices.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills as evidenced by the ability to liaise, consult and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders and prepare accurate and meaningful advice, reports, correspondence and presentations.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of a range of computerised systems and applications relevant to Human Resources, including but not limited to Aurion Employee Self-Service, Aurion Client, Power BI Reporting, Service Now, and the Microsoft Office suite of products, including the ability to ensure data accuracy and integrity, generate and analyse reports, and provide evidence-based recommendations and advice.
  • Demonstrated communication and problem solving skills, including managing issues of a sensitive and confidential nature with tact and discretion, workings effectively under pressure, prioritising tasks, and delivering successful outcomes within specified timeframes, either independently or as a member of a team.
  • Proven ability to contribute to a high performing human resources team, establishing meaningful connections with employees throughout the organisation, effectively building trust and rapport, and contributing positively to cultural change.
