Data Scientist - Global Energy & Commodities Trading

We are seeking a Data Scientist to join the central global data science team at a global energy and commodities trading company. In this pivotal role, you will be the first Data Scientist in the Asia office, delivering data-driven solutions that directly support trading and commercial decision-making. You will work across the full lifecycle of data science projects, from engaging with business stakeholders to deploying production-ready models and visualizations.

As the Data Scientist, your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with Traders, Researchers and Brokers to define and scope impactful projects. You will manage data collection and processing, perform exploratory analysis and build statistical and machine learning models to solve business problems. You will also be responsible for model tuning, deployment, and visualization, ensuring that solutions are actionable and commercially relevant. In addition, you will continuously identify new opportunities where AI and data science can create business value, while working independently in the Asia office and in close partnership with the global team.

To be successful in this role, you should have at least 3 years of experience as a Data Scientist in an industry setting, with strong skills in Python, SQL, and machine learning. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM field is required. You should have experience delivering end-to-end data science projects, from problem definition to production deployment, and the ability to communicate technical insights clearly to commercial stakeholders. Strong business acumen is essential, along with the ability to work independently and thrive as the first Data Scientist in the region.
