Location: Antwerp, Belgium (Hybrid)

The Role

Our client, a global manufacturing leader, is launching a new Data & AI Tribe and is looking for a Director of Data to set the vision and lead the execution. This role offers a blend of strategy and hands-on leadership: you’ll define the roadmap, build the team, and deliver projects such as AI-powered predictive maintenance, digital twins for production lines, and real-time supply chain optimisation. While technical know-how is important, business-minded leaders who can connect data strategy to real business value are equally welcome.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement the enterprise-wide data & AI strategy with a focus on manufacturing excellence.
• Build and lead a multidisciplinary data team (engineering, analytics, governance).
• Deliver AI/ML projects in predictive maintenance, computer vision for quality control, and energy optimisation.
• Ensure data governance, compliance, and security across manufacturing and supply chain systems.
• Oversee integration of IoT, sensor data, and ERP into scalable data platforms.
• Act as a bridge between business and technology, ensuring every data initiative drives measurable impact.

Profile

• 7+ years’ experience in data leadership roles, with at least 2+ years in a senior capacity (Head/Director/VP).
• Proven track record of delivering data & AI initiatives in large, complex environments (manufacturing/industrial preferred).
• Ability to balance strategic vision with technical depth.
• Strong knowledge of AI/ML applications and their business impact.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to roll up sleeves when needed.
• Excellent stakeholder management and business acumen.
• Fluent in English; Dutch highly valued.
