Network Engineer - Daily rate contract

My client based in Dublin City centre are currently on the lookout for a Network Engineer (CCNP Level) with strong hands-on experience in Cisco networking technologies, including Cisco Firewalls (ASA/FTD) and Cisco Wireless solutions.

Daily rate contract: Initial 3 months

Immediate start

Onsite 5 days per week in Dublin City Centre.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and support enterprise-level LAN, WAN, WLAN, and security solutions.
Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco ASA and Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) firewalls, including VPN technologies (site-to-site, remote access).
Administer and optimize Cisco Wireless Controllers and Access Points, ensuring reliable wireless connectivity and security.
Monitor and maintain network performance, capacity, and security using appropriate tools and methodologies.
Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and problem resolution for network-related issues.
Develop and maintain network documentation, including topology diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to support business initiatives, cloud integrations, and security compliance.
Assist in evaluating, testing, and deploying new networking and security technologies.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior network staff.

Qualifications & Requirements

Certification: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent proven experience.
Experience: 3–5+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer in medium-to-large enterprise environments.
Strong expertise in configuring and supporting Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
Proficiency with Cisco ASA/FTD, Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC), and Identity Services Engine (ISE) (preferred).
Solid understanding of network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, HSRP/VRRP, QoS).
Experience with VPNs, network security policies, and firewall rule management.
Knowledge of monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, DNA Center, or similar).
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and documentation).
