Project overview

The Client recently completed their Data & AI Strategy and Roadmap, establishing a foundation for a data-driven future. The assessment phase reviewed the current state of Data and AI, analyzing technology, processes, resources, and structure, and provided strategic recommendations aligned with the School’s 5-year transformation plan. Building on this, the discovery phase focused on data governance, use cases, business drivers, service offerings, technology, and roles, delivering further strategic insights. With this groundwork complete, The Client is now entering the delivery phase, which includes implementing a Data Platform, a first use case, and establishing Data Governance roles, processes, and technologies.

Position overview

We are seeking a talented Data Analyst to join an educational project affiliated with a prestigious UK business school. Renowned for its global influence and academic excellence, this institution represents the pinnacle of business education. Your work will contribute to leveraging data insights to support the school’s strategic goals.

Responsibilities

• Analysis and Reporting:
• Ability to advise on extracting and processing complicated datasets from multiple sources.
• Troubleshooting and triaging root cause analysis and applying technical fixes.
• Ability to build and maintain reports in SSRS and Power BI.
• Ability to advise on preparing complex reports to inform decision-making.
• Ability to use data integration tools and languages.
• Skilled in data visualization tools and techniques.
• Ability to apply standards and best practices for data presentation.
• Ability to coordinate teams to resolve problems and implement solutions.
• Data Engineering:
• Analyze business requirements, design and build/adapt appropriate data models.
• Design and maintain data pipelines.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement analytics solutions.
• Develop reporting and data visualization solutions.
• Partnering and Service Delivery:
• Use specialist knowledge to resolve technical issues.
• Effectively manage stakeholders and stakeholder communications, providing a high-quality end-to-end service.
• Provide technical advice and informal technical mentoring to less experienced stakeholders.
• Understand strategic data goals as laid out by the internal Data & AI Strategy, and work with stakeholders to ensure enhancement/development requests align with future direction.

Requirements

• Interest in industry trends and the power of data.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of data modelling and database design patterns.
• Experience integrating data from various sources.
• Experience using SSMS, Azure and Power BI.
• DB:
• SQL Query building (Joins, groups, window functions etc.)
• Stored proc development
• SSIS block development
• Azure:
• ADF pipeline development (parameters, variables, key vault etc.)
• Basic knowledge of Azure DevOps
• Azure data lake and blob/ file storage
• Basic knowledge of the Azure platform and services
• Power BI / SSRS:
• Power BI report development (using heterogeneous data sources, dataflows)
• Knowledge of Power BI services and administrations
• Knowledge of data modelling and DAX expressions
• SSRS report development and solution deployment
• Understanding of data management standards and procedures.
• Experience in data reporting and implementing data-oriented solutions.
