Business Intelligence Expert

I am currently working with an exciting client in Brussels looking for a Data Engineer/ BI expert to assist with a data migration.

The details are below, please note this is a freelance position with French or Dutch being mandatory.

Main Mission:

You will be involved in migrating and optimizing our data processes and systems into the cloud, integrating modern solutions such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, and automating data workflows. You will work closely with Data, IT, and business teams to ensure a smooth and efficient transition.

Your Responsibilities:

* Analyze, design, and implement data management solutions within a cloud environment (Azure Synapse, Databricks).

* Adapt and optimize existing SQL queries (notably in Teradata) for Azure/Synapse cloud environments.

* Support the migration of data models (LDM, datamarts), identifying and addressing gaps.

* Automate SAS scripts, ensuring their execution and maintenance within a cloud environment.

* Develop, test, and validate SQL and SAS scripts, ensuring data quality and consistency of results.

* Modify views in Teradata and create new views in the AGILE Data Warehouse platform.

* Collaborate with technical teams to ensure solutions are performant, compatible, and robust.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

* Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields.

* Proven experience in data management and processing, ideally in a cloud migration context.

* Basic knowledge of SAS Enterprise Guide (mandatory), including scripting and automation.

* Solid SQL skills, with the ability to convert Teradata queries to Azure Synapse / SQL Azure.

* Practical knowledge of Azure Synapse Analytics and Databricks.

* Good understanding of data historicality concepts and data modeling (LDM, datamarts).

* Analytical mindset, rigor, team spirit, and effective communication skills.

* Knowledge of ETL tools, CI/CD processes, and automation will be a plus.

* FR or NL speaker with a good level of english
