Project Manager - Marine & Yacht Tenders

Location: Leiden, Netherlands


Role Overview:

The Project Manager will play a key role in ensuring the successful execution of projects, driving progress while aligning with customers' expectations. You will be responsible for overseeing the planning, resource allocation, and delivery of high-end marine and yacht tenders. Your role will involve coordinating with both internal and external teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.


Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with owners' representatives and external designers to define project requirements and plan accordingly.
  • Initiate and update project plans, ensuring priorities are well-defined and aligned with the overall vision.
  • Break down weekly tasks across engineering, procurement, production, assembly, and project management, ensuring all tasks are recorded in the project management system (Wrike).
  • Assign external resources to tasks and monitor their progress in coordination with department heads and lead engineers.
  • Regularly check on internal and external task progress, ensuring adherence to timelines and project objectives.
  • Organise design reviews, task planning, and check-in meetings to ensure continuous alignment with project goals.
  • Provide detailed project status reports, highlighting risks, issues, and progress, and communicate these to the project board.
  • Build and maintain a project photo log and deliver monthly progress reports to owners' representatives.
  • Oversee budget monitoring and ensure financial targets are met.
  • Coordinate the creation of manuals (with support from the creative designer) and ensure documentation is up to date.
  • Initiate and manage the MDR (Manufacturing Data Record) from specifications, in collaboration with the Lead Engineer.
  • Motivate and manage project team members, ensuring a positive and productive working environment.
  • Ensure project specifications are kept up to date, collaborating with the project team and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Organise post-delivery project evaluations to gather insights and drive future improvements.


Place in the Organisation:

You will work closely with internal teams, including lead engineers, procurement, out-fitting lead, head of composites, contract managers, and the general manager. Externally, you will liaise with suppliers, clients, and sub-contractors. You will report directly to the Projects & Design Manager.


Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in project management within the marine or luxury yacht industry.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in budget monitoring and cost control.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (Wrike or similar).
  • Ability to motivate and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of yacht design and build processes is desirable.
  • The right to work in the EU.


Salary and Benefits:

  • Approx. €4,000 to €4,500 per month
  • Standard Dutch contract with a 13th-month salary payment, typically paid at the end of May
  • 27 days of holiday plus 13 additional ADV days
  • Eligibility for the 30% ruling for candidates under 30 with a technical degree
