I'm working with a fast-growing European clean-tech scale-up focused on sustainable lithium-ion battery recycling. They are developing one of the first large-scale industrial plants in the region, using innovative processes to recover all core materials with minimal environmental impact.
The company has a strong track record of funding and growth, a highly skilled international team, and a collaborative, mission-driven culture. They offer senior hires the chance to take ownership of critical projects, influence key decisions, and make a tangible impact in the circular economy.
We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to take responsibility for a sub-project worth over €20 million within the construction of a new hydrometallurgical battery recycling facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead an international and interdisciplinary project team, ensuring smooth coordination across departments
- Manage budgets, cost control, and supplier/service provider contracts, including negotiation and oversight
- Coordinate technical planning and procurement of system components with technology partners and engineering firms
- Oversee construction progress, ensuring compliance with timelines, quality standards, and efficiency targets
- Support approval processes and ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Report regularly to senior project leadership, identify risks early, and implement mitigation strategies
Profile
- Degree in engineering, process engineering, chemical engineering, or similar
- 3–5+ years’ experience managing large-scale projects in plant engineering, ideally in chemicals or recycling
- Solid knowledge of EPC(M) project management and working with general contractors
- Experience with project controlling, risk management, and regulatory approvals
- Familiarity with waste management regulations, immission control, or chemical park structures is an advantage
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with proven stakeholder management ability
- Team-oriented mindset with readiness to take responsibility and drive ambitious projects forward
