Senior IT Platform Engineer – Cloud Engineering Tooling (Contract)

We are looking for a Senior IT Platform Engineer to focus on container security and image lifecycle management within the Cloud Engineering Tooling area. This contract role involves implementing and maintaining secure base images using Chainguard solutions and integrating them into CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain secure base images using Chainguard containers
• Oversee the full image lifecycle, including updates, deprecation, and SLA compliance
• Customize base images using Chainguard’s Custom Assembly platform
• Integrate Chainguard solutions into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring compatibility with GitHub and Artifactory
• Collaborate with internal squads to align container security with product goals
• Contribute to squad missions and sprint objectives through teamwork and cooperation
• Support squad composition and effective time management
• Step outside core expertise when required to achieve squad goals
• Stay open to feedback and continuously improve skills and practices

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT engineering roles
• Strong experience with container security and image strategies
• Familiarity with Chainguard tooling (patched toolchains, base image variants)
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and GitHub Actions
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift, and AWS cloud platforms
• Knowledge of Java is an advantage
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across teams

Contract details:

• Duration: 6 months with a possibility to extend
• Location: Remote or hybrid (Vilnius, Lithuania)
• Daily rate: Approximately €50/h
