Scope of role

The OTA Team within Common Base Technologies, CBT, is where the end-to-end responsibility for OTA(Over The Air) updates resides. The OTA function is used to update our vehicles remotely and we have recently passed one million successful updates. The OTA function stretches over many areas, from ordering an update via server/cloud, wirelessly deliver data to vehicle -wherever it is-, downloaded, installed and verified making the car ready to go again. We realize this data channel through specifying functional and technical behavior in offline servers as well as in different nodes of the vehicle.

As being responsible end-to-end we also conduct a lot of testing in very different test environments, from smaller system subsets, via complete boxcars to a complete vehicle. As testing is vital and extensive we need to be effective and that is why we continuously develop the test automation environment.

Responsibilities

As tester/test automation developer you, in a team constellation, evaluate if new test needs can be automated and develops test scripts and framework in the right direction. You will need to master some or all of Windows, Python and Linux or highly proven capability in other languages. You apply test cases in boxcar and subset environments, that we develop and maintain ourselves, as well as in the nightly runs in main CI environments.

Analysis of resulting test logs is the next important part. You continuously nurse your full understanding of how the entire OTA channel works - a necessary knowledge when analyzing test results and identify error sources. Sometimes this is not enough, you will need a curious and open mindset to figure out if there is any other environment that can reveal the reason for a certain behavior and finally initiate fault reports and changes.

Networking and collaboration within and outside of the team is needed on a daily basis and is a big part of our success.

Knowledge/Experience

We believe that you have a M.Sc. or higher degree in Mechatronics, Software, Electrical, or Computer Engineering or similar knowledge. You need long experience from understanding complex node systems and how to effectively test them.

You have a curious and learning mindset, and driven by customer focus, you can find your way forward without having all facts at hand. You are flexible and master communication and documentation. With your positive attitude you are constructive in working both with individuals and in a team.
