We are looking for a passionate Embedded Software Developer to join our medical devices engineering team in Leuven, one of Europe’s leading hubs for innovation in healthcare technology. You will contribute to the development of next-generation wearable and implantable medical devices, powered by ultra-low-power embedded systems and advanced biosensors. Working at the crossroads of healthcare and microelectronics, you will help create devices that bring continuous, real-time patient monitoring and diagnostics closer to reality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and test embedded software for medical devices in compliance with IEC 62304.
- Implement real-time algorithms for biosignal acquisition, filtering, and analysis.
- Integrate BLE / NFC connectivity for secure health data transfer to mobile and cloud systems.
- Optimize embedded software for energy efficiency and reliability in miniaturized devices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including IC designers, hardware engineers, and biomedical researchers.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and other medtech standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Software Engineering, or similar field.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems (ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V, or similar).
- Experience with RTOS development (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of wireless communication protocols (BLE, NFC, UWB).
- Strong background in low-power embedded design or medical sensor integration.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (IEC 62304, ISO 14971).
- Strong communication skills in English; Dutch or French is a plus.
