Senior DevOps / Cloud Security Engineer

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior DevOps / Cloud Security Engineer who has designed, architected, or managed enterprise-grade AWS infrastructure with multi-account strategies, audit trails, and GDPR-compliant data handling.

You will own our cloud security posture while ensuring operational excellence. This is a hands-on, senior role where you will combine modern DevOps best practices with AI-assisted workflows to build and secure highly available infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Cloud Architecture

Manage and evolve multi-account AWS infrastructure (production, staging, backup).
Implement cross-account security policies, backup strategies, and disaster recovery.
Design highly available systems with automatic failover and zero-downtime deployments.

Security & Compliance

Maintain GDPR-compliant infrastructure with full audit trails and automated data purging.
Configure AWS security services (GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail) for threat detection.
Manage encryption keys, secrets rotation, and access controls across all AWS accounts.

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

Extend and maintain our Python-based Pulumi infrastructure codebase.
Build automation tools and self-service platforms for development teams.
Implement policy-as-code and infrastructure compliance testing.

Modern Development Practices

Use AI-assisted tools (Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) for infrastructure automation.
Build secure CI/CD pipelines with integrated security scanning.
Combine traditional coding skills with AI-assisted workflows for faster delivery.

Operational Excellence

Build monitoring and alerting using CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, and related tools.
Define SLOs, error budgets, and incident response procedures (SRE best practices).
Manage data infrastructure including PostgreSQL clusters, caching layers, and search systems.

Required Skills & Experience

✅ Must Have:

5+ years managing enterprise AWS infrastructure (multi-account architectures, backup & DR, incident response).
Hands-on experience with GDPR/PII compliance implementation.
Strong Python skills (writing/debugging infrastructure automation scripts).
AWS security expertise (IAM, KMS, secrets management, audit logging).
Proven track record of managing production incidents and security events.
Willingness to adopt and work with AI-assisted development tools (or prior experience using them).

✅ Technical Environment

Multi-account AWS infrastructure (managed via Pulumi – Python).
Kubernetes clusters on Porter.run.
Aurora PostgreSQL (with ML extensions).
GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
CloudWatch-based monitoring with custom alerting.

Nice to Have

Ruby on Rails deployment and optimization experience.
Knowledge of ML infrastructure and vector databases.
Experience with zero-trust networking (Tailscale, HashiCorp Boundary).
Contributions to open-source infrastructure-as-code or security projects.
