Kotlin Developer (Current SC)


Location: Remote ad hoc occasional onsite work mainly central London

Sector: Central Government Project

Type: Salary based 12 month FTC

Position Overview


We are seeking a highly skilled Kotlin Developer to join our dynamic development team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in building robust, scalable, and maintainable applications using Kotlin. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, product owners, and QA engineers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.


Key Responsibilities


  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using Kotlin (backend, Android, or full-stack depending on role).
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues across development and production environments.
  • Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver incremental value and improvements.
  • Stay up to date with the latest Kotlin, JVM, Android, and backend technologies.


Required Skills & Experience


  • Proven experience as a Kotlin Developer (2–5+ years).
  • Strong proficiency with Kotlin and deep understanding of its features (coroutines, DSLs, extension functions, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following:
  • Backend: Ktor, Spring Boot with Kotlin, Micronaut, or similar.
  • Android: Jetpack Compose, Android SDK, MVVM/MVI architecture.
  • Full-Stack: Kotlin with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of OOP, functional programming, and design patterns.
  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and GraphQL.
  • Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of unit testing, integration testing, and test automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Our Talent Acquisition Team will be in touch to advise you on the next steps. We have a two-stage interview process for most of our consultants. In certain cases, we may include a third and final stage, which is a conversation with the company Partners. This will only be considered if deemed necessary.
