Are you an experienced Network Engineer looking to apply your skills in a mission-critical Defence environment?
Join our team supporting the Royal Australian Navy’s Minerva systems, where you’ll design, maintain, and secure complex ICT networks that keep operations connected — even in the most challenging conditions.
- Provide specialist network support to deployed Defence ICT systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues promptly.
- Work creatively within DDIL constraints to maintain system functionality.
- Ensure compliance with Defence ICT security protocols.
- Design, build, and deploy advanced network solutions.
- Proactively patch, upgrade, and maintain Minerva systems.
- Develop SOPs, build guides, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with Defence partners and vendors to resolve incidents.
- Mentor onsite staff and assist with training ship CIS teams.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for high-priority incidents.
- Proven experience as a Network/Gateway Engineer.
- Hands-on expertise in:
- Routing, switching, IPSec, VPNs, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS TE.
- Next-gen firewalls, VoIP, enterprise WLAN, NAC, segmentation.
- Network telemetry (NetFlow, SNMP, etc.).
- Strong background in Microsoft (Exchange, Active Directory, Skype) and Citrix administration.
- Experience with hypervisors and virtual desktop infrastructure.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical writing skills.
- Experience with SEA2273 Minerva systems.
- Defence maritime platform ICT build and integration.
- Familiarity with Defence network environments and secure, regulated settings.
- Knowledge of architecture frameworks, testing, and evaluation procedures.
Security Clearance Required for this role:
- Must have a Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance
- Must be an Australian Citizen
